Fishing Lake Winnie

Lake Winnibigoshish (Big Winnie) is world famous for its outdoor opportunities. Fishing is second to none on this year-round fishery. Walleye, Northern, Perch, and the state record Musky all inhabit these waters.

If wilderness in a modern setting is what you are looking for, Winnie delivers. The lake has very little inhabited shoreline which give one a feeling of yesteryear. Once you have experienced the lake you will want to rediscover it year after year.

Walleye fishing has dominated the fishing scene at the resort this past week.  Guests have found fish along the shoreline breaklines in 20-30' of water.  Jigs and minnows, rigs with leeches and worms have been the most productive presentation.  Fishing with the jigs and minnows increases the chances of catching pike and perch.

Northern fishing has picked up on artificial baits.  You can troll, cast, or fish jigs and minnows.  Look for the breaklines or fish the backwater areas that have new weed growth.

Perch have been biting on fathead minnows.  Look for transition areas between hard and soft bottom locations.  They are feeding on bug larvae and crayfish.

Fishing has been very reliable this whole month.  We have some openings for the next few weeks.   If you want to make a trip to Winnie to get in on the action, give us a call.
